Leo Acker

Leo Acker is an English photographer who specialises in still life photography by shooting for both editorial and advertising companies and displaying their products in an eye catching way. His photography includes everyday examples of products attempting to be advertised by their creators in a way that makes each of them tempting to anyone, even if they may have previously had no interest in the items at all.

The photograph above is one of my favourites by Acker as it displays a clear focal point towards colour within the image without making the photography seem unprofessional. This photograph has a clear concentration on the colours within the centre which contrasts to the minimal colour within the background due to the colour scheme being greys and whites. Although Acker has not placed complimentary colours on top of each other to create a subtle mix of the colours, he has composed the photograph so well that the colours do not seem contrasting at all.

Within the photograph Acker has used a high key set up to create a spot light on the nail varnishes to once again make them the focal point of the photograph when an onlooker is to view it and has created a clear shadowed area due to this. Acker has also used a wide aperture due to the photograph being fairly bright and their being a clear wide depth of field.

Leo Acker has displayed clear edges and defined lines throughout this image and has even included a slight reflection on the nail varnish bottles to show how clear cut this photograph is.
