Hayley Warnham

Hayley Warnham is an illustrator and designer who adds splashes of colour to low saturated photographs to help demonstrate the impact of the object/ person in the frame of the photograph. Warnham also adds colour to old family images to inject a new outlook to the photograph and slight humour also.

Warnham uses different colours to highlight people in the images above that are completely contrasting to the low saturated backgrounds in the original photographs. Warnham adds this colour by creating an overlay onto the old fashioned images and tracing the individuals body positions to show the detail of how they are standing/ sitting without highlighting too much detail of who they are so they do not develop too much of a personality to the photograph. Warnham uses old fashioned photographs rather than taking their own to create a new flare to the older images and to be able to add their own mark on pieces of history.

Warnham’s photographs have inspired me to create my own work styled in her way, however, rather than using old photographs to alter to add colour onto, I am going to photograph my own settings and create the scenes manually rather than editing already natural images.
