David Parfitt

David Parfitt is a still life photographer who creates both commercial and non-commercial shoots to display still life objects in interesting and creative ways that most would not think of. Parfitt uses objects that are used in everyday life that may not be similar to each other to highlight clear composition that is displayed as effortless.

Regarding the photograph above, Parfitt has used a high key set up to display clear edges around each still life object while also creating a clear shadow for each to highlight a key focal point within the photograph. Parfitt has done this by using a wide aperture and by using the high key set up to focus mainly on the objects arranged in the middle, despite the background being clearly lighted also. Within this photograph Parfitt has composed this photograph to make it seem as though every object within the photograph is differently shaped, despite their only being two types of object throughout. Parfitt displays a similarly coloured background to the sponges in order to create a sense of refinement in the colours of the photograph to allow viewers to discover more of the photograph the longer they admire it. Large amounts of geometric shapes, and clear lines are focused on during this photograph to make the still life objects look more intriguing then they normally would be.
