COLOUR

In order to create this shoot I used a wide aperture as I only used natural lighting for this shoot and there was only minimal lighting due to it being early in the morning. This therefore meant that I had a wide depth of field and had all aspects of my photographs clear throughout each photograph. I made sure to use a high ISO to attempt to highlight the most colour without enhancing it too much in order to give it a saturated, unnatural look. Throughout each of these photographs I made sure to create a clear focal point of colour while still giving it a subtle look to it. For this shoot I aimed to capture this subtle colour throughout daily life in Liverpool to help to contrast the highly saturated studio colour to this natural colour within a daily environment. Although the objects and structures I captured are differentiating to my studio work, I enjoyed finding the differences between the colour and shooting something in a natural environment like the majority of my inspirations for picking this topic have done throughout their work.

When looking for inspiration for my photography I found the photograph above of the cathedral which led to me being inspired to photograph the cathedral due to it having areas of minimal colour surrounded by areas with large blocks of colour. This photograph also inspired me to photograph the cathedral in a slightly different way to which most tourists do by photographing it in different angles and by obscuring most of the inside stain glass windows to look as if they are purely blocks of bold colour to fit my theme for my project.
